Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 17B:27-46.3

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Any insurer issuing a group insurance policy in accordance with chapter 27 of Title 17B of the New Jersey Statutes which provides coverage of surgical operations performed on a person while confined in a hospital as an inpatient shall make available, and if requested by the group policyholder, provide a second surgical opinion program for elective surgical procedures which would require inpatient admission to a hospital for persons insured under the group policy for such surgical coverage.
