Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 18A:3-19.3

  • Department: means the State Department of Education. See New Jersey Statutes 18A:1-1
  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 3. This information shall be forwarded to the Department of the Treasury no later than 30 days after the last day of the fiscal year. The information shall include:

a. The amount of the gift.

b. The date on which it was received.

c. Full details of any conditions, matching provisions, or designation of the gift for a specific purpose.

d. The name of the foreign government in the case of a gift by a foreign government; the name of the foreign entity in the case of a gift by a foreign entity; and the name of the foreign country in which a foreign person is located or resides in the case of a gift by a foreign person.

e. The purpose or purposes for which the gift will be used.
