Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 18A:3B-33
- Department: means the State Department of Education. See New Jersey Statutes 18A:1-1
- Employee: includes the holder of any position or employment. See New Jersey Statutes 18A:1-1
- Higher education: means that education which is provided by any or all of the public institutions of higher education as herein defined and any or all equivalent private institutions. See New Jersey Statutes 18A:1-1
- State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
33. Notwithstanding the provisions of any law to the contrary, any former employee of the Department of Higher Education who was a participant in the alternate benefits program, P.L.1969, c.242 (C. 18A:66-168 et seq.), and who has continued in uninterrupted service with the State may continue to participate in the alternate benefits program on the same terms as other eligible employees.
