- Continuance: Putting off of a hearing ot trial until a later time.
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
Whenever any nuisance or foul odors injurious to the public health within the territorial jurisdiction of a local board shall have a source of origin outside such territorial jurisdiction, the State Commissioner of Health may institute an action in the Superior Court, in the name of the State, on the relation of the commissioner, to enjoin the continuance of the nuisance or source of foulness or ill health.
