As used in this Article:

(1) “Business entity” means a domestic corporation (including a professional corporation as defined in N.C. Gen. Stat. § 55B-2), a foreign corporation (including a foreign professional corporation as defined in N.C. Gen. Stat. § 55B-16), a domestic or foreign nonprofit corporation, a domestic or foreign limited liability company, a domestic or foreign limited partnership, a domestic partnership, or any other partnership.

Terms Used In North Carolina General Statutes 59-73.1

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Domestic partnership: means a partnership as defined in N. See North Carolina General Statutes 59-73.1
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Partnership: means a partnership as defined in N. See North Carolina General Statutes 59-73.1
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the said district and territories and all dependencies. (2) “Domestic partnership” means a partnership as defined in N.C. Gen. Stat. § 59-36 that is formed under the laws of this State, including a registered limited liability partnership, but excluding a domestic limited partnership.

(3) “Partnership” means a partnership as defined in N.C. Gen. Stat. § 59-36 whether or not formed under the laws of this State including a registered limited liability partnership and a foreign limited liability partnership, but excluding a domestic limited partnership and a foreign limited partnership.
