Whenever any person fails within thirty days to satisfy a judgment rendered within this state, upon the written request of the judgment creditor or the judgment creditor’s attorney, the clerk of the court which rendered the judgment, or the judge of the court or mayor of the mayor’s court if the court has no clerk, immediately shall forward a certified copy of the judgment to the registrar of motor vehicles.

Terms Used In Ohio Code 4509.35

  • Bail: Security given for the release of a criminal defendant or witness from legal custody (usually in the form of money) to secure his/her appearance on the day and time appointed.
  • Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
  • Person: includes an individual, corporation, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, and association. See Ohio Code 1.59
  • state: means the state of Ohio. See Ohio Code 1.59
  • suspension: means the permanent or temporary withdrawal, by action of a court or the bureau of motor vehicles, of a driver's license, commercial driver's license, temporary instruction permit, probationary license, or nonresident operating privilege for the period of the suspension or the permanent or temporary withdrawal of the privilege to obtain a license, permit, or privilege of that type for the period of the suspension. See Ohio Code 4510.01
  • Transcript: A written, word-for-word record of what was said, either in a proceeding such as a trial or during some other conversation, as in a transcript of a hearing or oral deposition.
  • Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.

Whenever any nonresident has been convicted of an offense for which the court is required to impose a license suspension under any provision of the Revised Code or has forfeited bail given to secure the nonresident’s appearance for trial upon a charge of any offense for which the court is required to impose a license suspension under any provision of the Revised Code, the clerk of every court of record and the mayor of every mayor’s court immediately shall forward to the registrar a certified copy or transcript of the conviction or order forfeiture of bail.
