As used in ORS § 468.076 to 468.089:

Terms Used In Oregon Statutes 468.076

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • United States: includes territories, outlying possessions and the District of Columbia. See Oregon Statutes 174.100

(1) ‘Person’ means an individual, corporation, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, association, joint venture, government in its private or public capacity, governmental subdivision or agency, or any other legal entity.

(2) ‘Reciprocating jurisdiction‘ means a state of the United States of America, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, a territory or possession of the United States of America or a province or territory of Canada, that has enacted an Act to provide substantially equivalent access to its courts and administrative agencies as provided in ORS § 468.076 to 468.087. 468.076 to 468.089 were enacted into law by the Legislative Assembly but were not added to or made a part of ORS Chapter 468 or any series therein by legislative action. See Preface to Oregon Revised Statutes for further explanation.
