Terms Used In South Carolina Code 22-3-510

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
The jurisdiction of magistrates in criminal cases in all counties wherein a county court is established under the provisions of Chapter 9 of Title 14 is hereby abolished.
