(a) A board of examiners is established, to be known by the name and title of “board of podiatric medical examiners.”(b) The governor shall appoint four (4) persons who have been licensed podiatrists for a period of at least two (2) years in this state as members of this board. The terms of office shall be for four (4) years. In making appointments to the board of podiatric medical examiners, the governor shall strive to ensure that at least one (1) person serving on the board is sixty (60) years of age or older and that at least one (1) person serving on the board is a member of a racial minority.(c) Upon the expiration of the term of a member, the governor shall appoint the member’s successor for a term of four (4) years.(d) The governor has the power to remove from office members of the board for neglect of duties as required by this chapter, or for malfeasance in office and incompetency or for unprofessional conduct. The governor has the authority to fill any vacancy caused by the removal of any member of the board by the member’s resignation or death, from a list of all licensed podiatrists who have practiced not less than two (2) years in this state.
