Terms Used In Maryland Code, COURTS AND JUDICIAL PROCEEDINGS 8-405

  • Juror: A person who is on the jury.
  • Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
A trial judge may:

(1) Excuse a sworn juror temporarily; and

(2) Order the sworn juror to return:

(i) On a specific day; or

(ii) On a date and at a time that the trial judge or jury commissioner directs.
