Terms Used In 37 CFR Part 370 - Notice and Recordkeeping Requirements for Statutory Licenses
- Alternate valuation date: The earlier of the date six months after the decedent
- Annuity: A periodic (usually annual) payment of a fixed sum of money for either the life of the recipient or for a fixed number of years. A series of payments under a contract from an insurance company, a trust company, or an individual. Annuity payments are made at regular intervals over a period of more than one full year.
- Attachment: A procedure by which a person's property is seized to pay judgments levied by the court.
- Beneficiary: A person who is entitled to receive the benefits or proceeds of a will, trust, insurance policy, retirement plan, annuity, or other contract. Source: OCC
- Bequest: Property gifted by will.
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.

- Interest rate: The amount paid by a borrower to a lender in exchange for the use of the lender's money for a certain period of time. - Life estate: A property interest limited in duration to the life of the individual holding the interest (life tenant).
- Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.

- Trustee: A person or institution holding and administering property in trust.
