(a) A nonprofit corporation may be formed to carry out the purposes of this part. The corporation is not a state entity and the officers and employees of the corporation are not officers or employees of the state and shall not be subject to state civil service.
(b) Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to preclude any person from creating other corporations and organizing other partnerships, joint ventures, or associations for the purposes set forth in this part.

- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Person: means any person, firm, association, organization, partnership, business trust, corporation, limited liability company, or company. See California Health and Safety Code 19
- State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Health and Safety Code 23
