  • Deed: The legal instrument used to transfer title in real property from one person to another.

In case of his failure to register any deed or other instrument within the time and in the manner required by N.C. Gen. Stat. § 161-14, the register shall be liable, in an action on his official bond, to the party injured by such delay.
