Sec. 6. Notwithstanding IC 31-30-1-2, the juvenile court has exclusive jurisdiction over a child who:

(1) has been taken into custody in the county; and

Terms Used In Indiana Code 33-33-45-6

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
(2) has allegedly committed an act that would be a misdemeanor traffic offense if committed by an adult.
