(a) When used in this division, the following words and phrases shall have the following meanings, respectively, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:
state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories of the United States. See Alabama Code 1-1-1
(1) ARTICLE. Such term, when referring to a cosmetic, is used in the broad and comprehensive sense and has reference to the cosmetic product in question.(2) COSMETIC. An article intended to be rubbed, poured, sprinkled or sprayed on, introduced into or otherwise applied to the human body for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness or altering the appearance and the component parts of such an article. Such term does not include a soap.(3) STANDARD OF PURITY OR QUALITY. The standard of purity and quality fixed by the State Board of Agriculture and Industries.(b) Other words and phrases used in this division shall be defined as in Section 2-1-1.
