- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
All bills originating in either house pertaining to transportation under the jurisdiction of the transportation department, its budget, and all other matters of highway planning, construction, maintenance, operation, or administration shall be reviewed by the Joint Transportation Committee for its recommendations, which recommendations shall be given due consideration by the committees of each house of the Legislature in acting on any related legislation. Absent a recommendation from the Joint Transportation Committee, the committees shall proceed with their consideration of legislation.
