(a) Legal process shall be served upon a domestic reciprocal insurer by serving the insurer’s attorney-in-fact at the principal offices of the attorney-in-fact or by serving the director as the insurer’s process agent under Alaska Stat. § 21.09.180 and 21.09.190.

  • Attorney-in-fact: A person who, acting as an agent, is given written authorization by another person to transact business for him (her) out of court.
  • Liabilities: The aggregate of all debts and other legal obligations of a particular person or legal entity.
  • Service of process: The service of writs or summonses to the appropriate party.
(b) A judgment based upon legal process so served shall be binding upon each of the insurer’s subscribers as their respective interests may appear but in an amount not exceeding their respective contingent liabilities, if any, the same as though personal service of process was had upon each subscriber.
