Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 23.20.440

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.

The department may remove to itself or transfer to another appeal tribunal an appeal pending before an appeal tribunal. In an appeal removed to the department, before a fair hearing has been completed, the parties shall be given a fair hearing by the department as required by Alaska Stat. § 23.20.41023.20.470 with respect to proceedings before an appeal tribunal.
