Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 25.30.520

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
  • Appellate: About appeals; an appellate court has the power to review the judgement of another lower court or tribunal.

An appeal taken from a final order in a proceeding under Alaska Stat. § 25.30.40025.30.590 shall be given calendar priority to the extent allowed for other civil appellate cases and shall be handled expeditiously. Unless the court enters a temporary emergency order under Alaska Stat. § 25.30.330, the enforcing court may not stay an order enforcing a child custody determination pending appeal.
