Alaska Statutes 41.17.400 – Tanana Valley State Forest

(a) Subject to valid existing rights and except for land owned by or transferred to the University of Alaska under a settlement agreement between the state and the university, the state-owned or acquired land and water lying within the parcels described in (d) of this section is designated as the Tanana Valley State Forest.

Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 41.17.400

Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
state: means the State of Alaska unless applied to the different parts of the United States and in the latter case it includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
state forest: means an area designated by the legislature and retained in state ownership in order to
(A) provide a base for sustained yield management of renewable resources. See Alaska Statutes 41.17.950
sustained yield: means the achievement and maintenance in perpetuity of a high level annual or regular periodic output of the various renewable resources of forest land and water without significant impairment of the productivity of the land and water, but does not require that timber be harvested in a non-declining yield basis over a rotation period. See Alaska Statutes 41.17.950

(b) The commissioner shall prepare a management plan for the Tanana Valley State Forest under Alaska Stat. § 41.17.230.

(c) The commissioner may establish transportation corridors within the Tanana Valley State Forest.

(d) The Tanana Valley State Forest includes the state-owned or acquired land and water lying within the following described parcels:
