Any person that violates any provision of this chapter or any regulation adopted under this chapter, is liable civilly in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500) for each and every violation. The penalty is to be recovered by the director in any court of competent jurisdiction. Any sum which is recovered under this section shall be deposited in the State Treasury to the credit of the Department of Food and Agriculture Fund.

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
