  • Amortization: Paying off a loan by regular installments.
  • Annuity: A periodic (usually annual) payment of a fixed sum of money for either the life of the recipient or for a fixed number of years. A series of payments under a contract from an insurance company, a trust company, or an individual. Annuity payments are made at regular intervals over a period of more than one full year.
  • Appraisal: A determination of property value.
  • Baseline: Projection of the receipts, outlays, and other budget amounts that would ensue in the future without any change in existing policy. Baseline projections are used to gauge the extent to which proposed legislation, if enacted into law, would alter current spending and revenue levels.
  • Coach: means a person appointed by a youth sports organization to supervise or instruct a participant in the sport of youth tackle football. See California Health and Safety Code 124240
  • Conduit: includes pipe, millrace, ditch, flume, siphon, tunnel, canal, and any other conduit or diversion used for the purpose of taking or receiving water from any river, creek, stream, or lake. See California Fish and Game Code 5900
  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Deed: The legal instrument used to transfer title in real property from one person to another.
  • Department: means the Department of Fish and Wildlife. See California Fish and Game Code 37
  • directors: means natural persons, designated in the articles or bylaws or elected by the incorporators, and their successors and natural persons designated, elected, or appointed by any other name or title to act as members of the governing body of the corporation. See California Corporations Code 5047
  • Fish: means a wild fish, mollusk, crustacean, invertebrate, amphibian, or part, spawn, or ovum of any of those animals. See California Fish and Game Code 45
  • Full-contact practice: means a session where one or more drills or live action is conducted that involves contact at game speed, as in an actual tackle football game or scrimmage. See California Health and Safety Code 124240
  • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
  • Heat-related illness: includes , but is not necessarily limited to, heat cramps, heat syncope, heat exhaustion, and exertional heat stroke. See California Health and Safety Code 124240
  • Interest rate: The amount paid by a borrower to a lender in exchange for the use of the lender's money for a certain period of time. Interest is paid on loans or on debt instruments, such as notes or bonds, either at regular intervals or as part of a lump sum payment when the issue matures. Source: OCC
  • Licensed healthcare provider: means either of the following:

  • Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.
  • Off-season: means a period extending from the end of the regular season until 30 days before the commencement of the next regular season. See California Health and Safety Code 124240
  • Owner: includes the United States (except that for the purpose of Sections 5901, 5931, 5933, and 5938, "owner" does not include the United States as to any dam in the condition the dam existed on September 15, 1945), the State, a person, political subdivision, or district (other than a fish and game district) owning, controlling or operating a dam or pipe.   • Person: includes any person, firm, partnership, association, corporation, company, limited liability company, syndicate, estate, trust, business trust, or organization of any kind. See California Financial Code 18
  • Person: means any natural person or any partnership, corporation, limited liability company, trust, or other type of association. See California Fish and Game Code 67
  • Play: includes participation in a youth tackle football game, scrimmage, or practice. See California Health and Safety Code 124240
  • Preseason: means a period of 30 days before the commencement of the regular season. See California Health and Safety Code 124240
  • Regular season: means the period from the first league football game or scrimmage until the completion of the final football game of that season. See California Health and Safety Code 124240
  • Safety equipment: includes , but is not necessarily limited to, all of the following:

  • Security interest: includes any interest of a consignor and a buyer of accounts, chattel paper, a payment intangible, or a promissory note in a transaction that is subject to Division 9 (commencing with Section 9101). See California Commercial Code 1201
  • Sequester: To separate. Sometimes juries are sequestered from outside influences during their deliberations.
  • Venue: The geographical location in which a case is tried.
  • Writing: includes any form of recorded message capable of comprehension by ordinary visual means. See California Financial Code 8
  • Youth sports organization: means an organization, business, nonprofit entity, or a local governmental agency that sponsors or conducts amateur sports competitions, training, camps, or clubs in which persons 17 years of age or younger participate. See California Health and Safety Code 124235
  • Youth sports organization: means an organization, business, or nonprofit entity that sponsors or conducts amateur sports competition, training, camps, clinics, practices, or clubs. See California Health and Safety Code 124240
  • Youth tackle football league: means the organization that groups together youth sports organizations that conduct youth tackle football, administers rules, and sets game schedules. See California Health and Safety Code 124240
