  • agreement: means a joint powers agreement entered into pursuant to Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 6500) of Division 7 of Title 1 of the Government Code, an agreement to transfer the functions of a public entity or an employee thereof to another public entity pursuant to Part 2 (commencing with Section 51300) of Division 1 of Title 5 of the Government Code, and any other agreement under which a public entity undertakes to perform any function, service or act with or for any other public entity or employee thereof with its consent, whether such agreement is expressed by resolution, contract, ordinance or in any other manner provided by law. See California Government Code 21418
  • At large: means the election of members of the board of directors all of whom are elected by the voters of the entire district. See California Government Code 21294
  • attorney: means a member or former member of the State Bar. See California Government Code 26488
  • Board: means the county board of supervisors acting as the governing authority of a county service area. See California Government Code 25210.2
  • board: means the board of directors of the district. See California Government Code 21225
  • board: means the Livestock Identification Advisory Board. See California Government Code 21409
  • Board of directors: means the board of directors of a district that establishes policies for the operation of the district. See California Government Code 21294
  • Bonds: as used in this chapter means the written evidence of any obligation incurred by the board payable out of revenues as provided in this chapter in order to secure funds with which to carry out the purposes of this chapter irrespective of the form of such obligation whether in the form of bonds, notes, debentures, interest bearing certificates or other forms prescribed by the board. See California Government Code 26486
  • By divisions: means the election of members of the board of directors who are residents of the division from which they are elected only by voters of the division. See California Government Code 21294
  • Bylaws: as used in this part means the code or codes of rules used, adopted, or recognized for the regulation or management of the affairs of the corporation irrespective of the name or names by which such rules are designated. See California Corporations Code 9150
  • commission: means a county transportation commission created pursuant to Chapter 2 (commencing with Section 130050). See California Government Code 21292
  • compensation: means the remuneration paid out of funds controlled by the employer in payment for the member's services performed during normal working hours or for time during which the member is excused from work because of any of the following:

  • confidential communication: means any information, including, but not limited to, written or oral communication, transmitted between the victim and the counselor in the course of their relationship and in confidence by a means which, so far as the victim is aware, discloses the information to no third persons other than those who are present to further the interests of the victim in the consultation or those to whom disclosures are reasonably necessary for the transmission of the information or an accomplishment of the purposes for which the domestic violence counselor is consulted.   • confidential communication: means information transmitted between the victim and the caseworker in the course of their relationship and in confidence by a means which, so far as the victim is aware, discloses the information to no third persons other than those who are present to further the interests of the victim in the consultation or those to whom disclosures are reasonably necessary for the transmission of the information or an accomplishment of the purposes for which the human trafficking counselor is consulted.   • confine: includes admit, commit, place, detain, or hold in custody. See California Government Code 21462
  • county psychiatric hospital: means the hospital, ward, or facility provided by the county pursuant to the provisions of Section 7100 of the Welfare and Institutions Code. See California Government Code 21461
  • County service area: means a county service area formed pursuant to this chapter or any of its statutory predecessors. See California Government Code 25210.2
  • district: means the North County Transit District. See California Government Code 21223
  • District: means a community services district created pursuant to this division or any of its statutory predecessors. See California Government Code 21294
  • domestic violence: means "domestic violence" as defined in Section 6211 of the Family Code. See California Government Code 21256
  • domestic violence counselor: means a person who is employed by a domestic violence victim service organization, as defined in this article, whether financially compensated or not, for the purpose of rendering advice or assistance to victims of domestic violence and who has at least 40 hours of training as specified in paragraph (2). See California Government Code 21251
  • Eligible institution: means either of the following:

  • Fee generating case: means a case or matter that, if undertaken on behalf of an indigent person by an attorney in private practice, reasonably may be expected to result in payment of a fee for legal services from an award to a client, from public funds, or from the opposing party. See California Government Code 25212.4
  • From divisions: means the election of members of the board of directors who are residents of the division from which they are elected by the voters of the entire district. See California Government Code 21294
  • General manager: means the highest level management appointee who is directly responsible to the board of directors for the implementation of the policies established by the board of directors. See California Government Code 21294
  • Geologic hazard: means an actual or threatened landslide, land subsidence, soil erosion, earthquake, or any other natural or unnatural movement of land or earth. See California Government Code 25210.2
  • gradual earth movements: includes , but is not limited to, perceptible changes in the earth either in a subterranean area or at the surface, or both, which if not arrested or contained will over a gradual period of time result in damage to or destruction of underground or aboveground property or harm to persons. See California Government Code 21478
  • holder of the privilege: means :

  • holder of the privilege: means the victim when he or she has no guardian or conservator, or a guardian or conservator of the victim when the victim has a guardian or conservator. See California Government Code 21260
  • human trafficking caseworker: means any of the following:

  • Inhabited territory: means territory within which there reside 12 or more registered voters. See California Government Code 25210.2
  • IOLTA account: means an account or investment product established and maintained pursuant to subdivision (a) of Section 6211 that is any of the following:

  • Latent power: means any service or facility authorized by Article 4 (commencing with Section 25213) that the local agency formation commission has determined, pursuant to subdivision (i) of Section 56425, that the county service area was not authorized to provide prior to January 1, 2009. See California Government Code 25210.2
  • Latent power: means those services and facilities authorized by Part 3 (commencing with Section 61100) that the local agency formation commission has determined, pursuant to subdivision (i) of Section 56425, that a district did not provide prior to January 1, 2006. See California Government Code 21294
  • Legal Services Corporation: means the Legal Services Corporation established under the Legal Services Corporation Act of 1974 (P. See California Government Code 25212.4
  • local agency formation commission: means a local agency formation commission that operates in the county pursuant to the Cortese-Knox-Hertzberg Local Government Reorganization Act of 2000, Division 3 (commencing with Section 56000) of Title 5. See California Government Code 25210.2
  • local public entity: has the meaning set forth in Section 900. See California Government Code 21478
  • medical facility: includes a hospital, infirmary, clinic, dispensary, mental institution, or similar facility. See California Government Code 21458
  • mental illness or addiction: means any condition for which a person may be detained, cared for, or treated in a mental institution, in a facility designated by a county pursuant to Chapter 2 (commencing with Section 5150) of Part 1 of Division 5 of the Welfare and Institutions Code, or in a similar facility. See California Government Code 21461.5
  • mental institution: means a state hospital for the care and treatment of persons with mental health disorders or intellectual disabilities, the California Rehabilitation Center referred to in Section 3300 of the Welfare and Institutions Code, or a county psychiatric hospital. See California Government Code 21460
  • multicounty designated transportation planning agency: means the Southern California Association of Governments. See California Government Code 21294
  • Nonmember: as used in this article , means the spouse or former spouse of a member, who as a result of petitioning the court for the division of community property, has been awarded a distinct and separate account reflecting specific credited service and accumulated contributions. See California Government Code 21291
  • Notice: includes all papers and orders required to be served in any proceedings before any court, board, or officer, or when required by law to be served independently of such proceeding. See California Government Code 26660
  • omnibus claim appropriation: means an act of appropriation, or an item of appropriation in a budget act, by which the Legislature appropriates a lump sum to pay the claim of the Department of General Services or its secretary against the state in an amount that the Legislature has determined is properly chargeable to the state. See California Government Code 21480
  • Principal county: means the county having all or the greatest portion of the entire assessed valuation, as shown on the last equalized assessment roll of the county or counties, of all taxable property in the district. See California Government Code 21294
  • prisoner: includes an inmate of a prison, jail, or penal or correctional facility. See California Government Code 21423
  • Qualified legal services project: means either of the following:

  • Recipient: means a qualified legal services project or support center receiving financial assistance under this article. See California Government Code 25212.4
  • Revenue: as used in this chapter shall mean all fees, rates, charges, rentals or other income and revenue actually received or receivable by or for the account of the board from the operation of any particular project including without limiting the generality of the foregoing interest allowed on any moneys or securities and any proceeds derived from the sale of any securities and any consideration in any way derived from the particular project owned, operated or maintained by the board.   • Secretary: means the secretary of the board of directors. See California Government Code 21294
  • state agency: includes every state office, officer, department, division, bureau, board, and commission. See California Government Code 11000
  • tax: includes a tax, assessment, fee or charge. See California Government Code 21475
  • victim: means any person who suffers domestic violence, as defined in Section 1037. See California Government Code 21250
  • victim: means any person who is a "trafficking victim" as defined in Section 236. See California Government Code 21260
  • Voter: means a voter as defined by Section 359 of the Elections Code. See California Government Code 21294
  • Zone: means a zone formed pursuant to Article 8 (commencing with Section 25217). See California Government Code 25210.2
  • Zone: means a zone formed pursuant to Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 61140) of Part 3. See California Government Code 21294
