The government of the authority shall be vested in a board of directors that shall consist of nine members, selected as follows:

(a)  Five members, one from each supervisorial district, shall be appointed by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors.

  • community advisory board: means that advisory board to the authority's board appointed by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors which is comprised of 15 persons who represent community and consumer interests and who do not directly earn their income from the provision of medical or health services.   • County: means the County of Monterey. See California Health and Safety Code 101560
  • professional advisory board: means that advisory board to the authority's board composed of nine health and medical care professionals appointed by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors, five of whom shall be nominated by the Monterey County Medical Society, with at least one to be a member of the Monterey County Chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians, one of whom shall be nominated by Natividad Medical Center, one of whom shall be nominated by the Monterey County Hospital Administrators' Association, and two of whom shall be nominated by other organizations in the County of Monterey representing other professional health care providers. (b)  One member, who shall be a current member of the professional advisory board, shall be nominated by the authority’s professional advisory board and confirmed by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors and serve a one-year term.

(c)  One member, who shall be a current member of the community advisory board, shall be nominated by the authority’s community advisory board and confirmed by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors and serve a one-year term.

(d)  Two members, both of whom shall be residents of Monterey County, shall be appointed by the Governor. The Governor shall make the appointments from a list containing at least three nominations by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors.
