(a) Any person who violates this chapter is subject to a civil penalty of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) per day for each day that the violation continues.

(b) The city attorney or district attorney in whose jurisdiction the violation occurs, or the Attorney General, may petition the superior court to impose, assess, and recover the civil penalties provided in this section.

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

(c) The penalties under this section are in addition to any other applicable civil or criminal penalties.
