- Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths.
- Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
- Class: means a group of carriers or related businesses as specified by the commission for purposes of establishing the fees pursuant to this article. See California Public Utilities Code 424
- Commission: means the Public Utilities Commission created by §. See California Public Utilities Code 20
- Commissioner: means the Insurance Commissioner. See California Insurance Code 14001
- Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Fee: means that monetary amount determined in accordance with this article. See California Public Utilities Code 424
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Licensee: means a person licensed under this chapter. See California Insurance Code 14001
- nonresident: means a person who is not a resident of this state at the time of the performance of the act referred to in Section 14071. See California Insurance Code 14078
- State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Insurance Code 28
- State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Public Utilities Code 17
- Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
