The district may contract with the State for the construction, repair or relocation of highways or approaches to any structure or improvement maintained or operated by it and may collect tolls for the use of such structure or improvement to pay any obligation to the State, incurred under the contract.

  • district: means a bridge and highway district unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. See California Streets and Highways Code 27001
  • Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
  • tolls: include tolls, charges, rentals, rates, traffic charges, and other income and revenue actually received or receivable by, or for the account of, the district for the use and operation of equipment, rolling stocks, ferries, properties, and facilities for travel that are constructed, owned, operated, or maintained by the district.
