Each department head, as defined in § 4-5, other than the Commissioner of Transportation, shall ensure that any municipal solid waste removed from any state facility or property under his jurisdiction shall be disposed of at the regional transfer station or other site designated by the municipality in which the facility or property is located. Any long-term contract for the disposal of solid waste entered into by any such department head shall include provisions to carry out the purposes of this section provided nothing in this section shall affect or impair any contract which exists on October 1, 1995.

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
