The chairpersons and ranking members of the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to insurance shall convene, at least two times each year, a group of physicians and managed care organizations, to discuss issues relative to contracting between physicians and managed care organizations, including issues relative to any national settlement agreements, to the extent permitted under such settlement agreements.

- Insurance: means any agreement to pay a sum of money, provide services or any other thing of value on the happening of a particular event or contingency or to provide indemnity for loss in respect to a specified subject by specified perils in return for a consideration. - Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
