For the purpose of this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:

(1) “Department” means the State Department of Agriculture.

(2) “Secretary” means the Secretary of the State Department of Agriculture or the Secretary’s designee.

(3) “Person” means any individual, partnership, association, corporation or organized group of persons whether incorporated or not.

(4) “Livestock” means any cattle, sheep, swine, goats, horses, mules, other equines, poultry or cultured aquatic stock.

(5) “Livestock dealer” means every recognized dealer engaged in the business of buying, selling or transporting livestock or operating a livestock auction or a livestock sales facility.

Terms Used In Delaware Code Title 3 Sec. 7602

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Department: means the State Department of Agriculture. See Delaware Code Title 3 Sec. 7602
  • Livestock: means any cattle, sheep, swine, goats, horses, mules, other equines, poultry or cultured aquatic stock. See Delaware Code Title 3 Sec. 7602
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Secretary: means the Secretary of the State Department of Agriculture or the Secretary's designee. See Delaware Code Title 3 Sec. 7602
  • State: means the State of Delaware; and when applied to different parts of the United States, it includes the District of Columbia and the several territories and possessions of the United States. See Delaware Code Title 1 Sec. 302
