Terms Used In Florida Statutes 166.131
- governing body: means the council, commission, or other board or body in which the general legislative powers of the municipality shall be vested. See Florida Statutes 166.101
- Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
- Personal property: All property that is not real property.
The governing body of a municipality may levy ad valorem taxes upon real and tangible personal property within the municipality as it deems necessary to make payment, including principal and interest, upon the general obligation and ad valorem bonded indebtedness of the municipality or into any sinking funds created under s. 166.122.
