  • Disaster: means any natural, technological, or civil emergency that causes damage of sufficient severity and magnitude to result in a declaration of a state of emergency by a county, the Governor, or the President of the United States. See Florida Statutes 252.34
  • Emergency: means any occurrence, or threat thereof, whether natural, technological, or manmade, in war or in peace, which results or may result in substantial injury or harm to the population or substantial damage to or loss of property. See Florida Statutes 252.34
The Florida Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan shall permit the Agency for Health Care Administration, working from the agency’s offices or in the Emergency Operations Center, ESF-8, to make initial contact with each nursing home and assisted living facility in the disaster area. The agency, by July 15, annually, shall publish on the Internet an emergency telephone number that may be used by nursing homes and assisted living facilities to contact the agency on a schedule established by the agency to report requests for assistance. The agency may also provide the telephone number to each facility when it makes the initial facility call.
