Terms Used In Hawaii Revised Statutes 583A-313

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

A court of this State shall accord full faith and credit to an order issued by another state and consistent with this chapter, which enforces a child-custody determination by a court of another state, unless the order has been vacated, stayed, or modified by a court having jurisdiction to do so under part II.
