  • Clerk of court: An officer appointed by the court to work with the chief judge in overseeing the court's administration, especially to assist in managing the flow of cases through the court and to maintain court records.
  • Discovery: Lawyers' examination, before trial, of facts and documents in possession of the opponents to help the lawyers prepare for trial.
  • Subpoena: A command to a witness to appear and give testimony.

A motion to the court for a protective order or to enforce, quash, or modify a subpoena issued by a clerk of court under § 624D-3 shall comply with the rules of court and statutes of this State and be submitted to the court in the circuit in which discovery is to be conducted.
