  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     The Board shall prescribe and advise such institutions as to the form of certificate or certificates to be submitted under Section 4 of this Act, and promptly upon receipt of such certificates from the institutions shall certify to the State Comptroller the aggregate amount of the grant allocable to and to be paid to each such institution. The Board shall examine the certificates furnished by the institutions and may require such further data and information as the Board may request. Upon written notice by the Board to any institution, the Board may examine the institution’s student enrollment records for the purpose of verification, amendment or correction of any such certificate.
