  • individual: shall include every infant member of the species homo sapiens who is born alive at any stage of development. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.36
  • Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     To establish programs, and the criteria for such programs, for the repayment of the educational loans of eligible health care providers who agree to serve in Designated Shortage Areas for a specified period of time, no less than 2 years. Payments under this program may be made for the principal, interest, and related expenses of government and commercial loans received by the individual for tuition expenses, and all other reasonable educational expenses incurred by the individual. Payments made under this provision shall be exempt from Illinois State Income Tax. The Department may use tobacco settlement recovery funding or other available funding to implement this Section.
