  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     “Education loan corporation” means a not for profit corporation organized under the laws of this State which is not owned or controlled by the State or any political subdivision, agency, instrumentality, district or municipality thereof, which is organized for the purpose of, or is otherwise authorized to, receive Authority loans from the Authority and conduct an education loan financing program in accordance with the provisions of this Act.
