  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
Any action, proceeding, or appeal in any court arising under the provisions of this Act, or to which the Illinois Housing Development Authority is a party, shall have priority in hearing and determination over all other proceedings pending in such court, excepting election contests.
