Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 610 ILCS 25/2

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     Such consolidation shall take effect upon the filing and recording of such articles of consolidation in the office of the Secretary of State of the State of Illinois, and a certified copy thereof in the office of the recorder of the various counties in which said railroad is situated. A certified copy of such articles of consolidation, under seal of the Secretary of State, shall be deemed and taken to be prima facie evidence of the existence of such consolidated corporation.
