As used in this Act:
     “Unprotected area” means any part of an unincorporated area of a county, which is not part of a fire protection jurisdiction, or which does not have available on voluntary or contractual basis a source of fire protection coverage.

Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 70 ILCS 715/1

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14

     “Fire Marshal” means the State Fire Marshal.
     “Fire Protection Jurisdiction” includes fire departments of any unit of local government.
     “Fire Protection Coverage” means the availability of fire protection on a voluntary, or contractual basis, from a municipal fire department or fire protection district, or eligibility to receive services from a unit of local government that provides fire protection.
