Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 70 ILCS 715/3

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
     Upon written request to the Fire Marshal, from registered voters or property owners of an unprotected area, the Fire Marshal is authorized to contact with all practicable speed fire protection jurisdictions near such unprotected area, to seek to arrange for fire protection coverage from a fire protection jurisdiction under a voluntary, negotiated fee basis.
