Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 730 ILCS 5/3-3-11.1
- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14

As used in Sections 3-3-11.05 through 3-3-11.3, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise, the term “State” means a state of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and any other territorial possessions of the United States.
