Terms Used In Indiana Code > Title 14 > Article 30 > Chapter 4 - Upper Wabash River Basin Commission

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
  • basin: refers to the upper Wabash River basin. See Indiana Code 14-30-4-1
  • commission: refers to the Upper Wabash River basin commission established by this chapter. See Indiana Code 14-30-4-2
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Liabilities: The aggregate of all debts and other legal obligations of a particular person or legal entity.
  • participating county: refers to a county that joins the commission under section 7 of this chapter. See Indiana Code 14-30-4-3
  • plan: refers to a plan described in section 13(1) of this chapter. See Indiana Code 14-30-4-4
  • Population: has the meaning set forth in Ind. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
  • Property: includes personal and real property. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
  • Testimony: Evidence presented orally by witnesses during trials or before grand juries.
  • upper Wabash River basin: means the area located in Adams County, Huntington County, Jay County, or Wells County that is drained by the Wabash River, including the tributaries of the Wabash River. See Indiana Code 14-30-4-5
  • Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
