Terms Used In Indiana Code > Title 21 > Article 49 - Postsecondary Educational Institution Transparency

  • Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths.
  • Attorney: includes a counselor or other person authorized to appear and represent a party in an action or special proceeding. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
  • Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • debt: means any money, obligation, claim, or sum due or owing or alleged to be due or owing from a student. See Indiana Code 21-49-2-1
  • Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
  • institution: means a:

  • Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
  • Property: includes personal and real property. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
  • transcript: means the statement of an individual's academic record provided by an institution. See Indiana Code 21-49-2-3
  • Transcript: A written, word-for-word record of what was said, either in a proceeding such as a trial or during some other conversation, as in a transcript of a hearing or oral deposition.
  • Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
