Terms Used In Iowa Code 147A.1A
- Department: means the Iowa department of public health. See Iowa Code 147A.1
- EMS: means an integrated medical care delivery system to provide emergency and nonemergency medical care at the scene or during out-of-hospital patient transportation in an ambulance. See Iowa Code 147A.1
- State: means a state, territory, or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. See Iowa Code 152E.3
The department is designated as the lead agency for coordinating and implementing the provision of emergency medical services in this state. The department shall be the state EMS authority for the purposes of chapter 147D.
