Terms Used In Iowa Code 20.23
- Assets: (1) The property comprising the estate of a deceased person, or (2) the property in a trust account.
- Employee organization: means an organization of any kind in which public employees participate and which exists for the primary purpose of representing employees in their employment relations. See Iowa Code 20.3
- Public employer: means the state of Iowa, its boards, commissions, agencies, departments, and its political subdivisions including school districts and other special purpose districts. See Iowa Code 20.3
Any employee organization and public employer may sue or be sued as an entity under the provisions of this chapter. Service upon the public employer shall be in accordance with law or the rules of civil procedure. Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to make any individual or the individual’s assets liable for any judgment against a public employer or an employee organization.
