As used in this chapter:
 1. “Advertising device” means any outdoor sign, display, device, figure, painting, drawing, message, placard, poster, billboard, or any other device designed, intended, or used to advertise or inform, for which remuneration is paid or earned in exchange for its erection, display, or existence by any person, and which is visible from the traveled portion of any highway of the interstate system in this state.

Terms Used In Iowa Code 306B.1

  • Department: means the state department of transportation. See Iowa Code 306B.1
  • Forbearance: A means of handling a delinquent loan. A
  • highway: means the entire width between property lines of every way or place of whatever nature when any part thereof is open to the use of the public, as a matter of right, for purposes of vehicular travel, except in public areas in which the boundary shall be thirty-three feet each side of the center line of the roadway. See Iowa Code 321I.1
  • Interstate system: means the system of highways as described in 23 U. See Iowa Code 306B.1
  • Person: includes any individual, firm, corporation, partnership, joint adventure, or association, and the plural as well as the singular number. See Iowa Code 321H.2
  • Remuneration: means the exchange of anything of value, including but not limited to money, securities, real property interests, personal property interests, goods, services, future consideration, exchange of favor, or forbearance of debt. See Iowa Code 306B.1
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" may include the said district and territories. See Iowa Code 4.1
 2. “Department” means the state department of transportation.
 3. “Interstate system” means the system of highways as described in 23 U.S.C. § 103(c) or amendments thereto.
 4. “Remuneration” means the exchange of anything of value, including but not limited to money, securities, real property interests, personal property interests, goods, services, future consideration, exchange of favor, or forbearance of debt.
