As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:
1. “Auditor” means the county auditor of a county in which a district has been incorporated and organized or is proposed to be incorporated and organized.
Terms Used In Iowa Code 357A.1
- association: means a rural water association organized and incorporated as a cooperative association under chapter 499 or as a nonprofit corporation under chapter 504. See Iowa Code 357A.1
- Auditor: means the county auditor of a county in which a district has been incorporated and organized or is proposed to be incorporated and organized. See Iowa Code 357A.1
- Board: means the board of directors of a district, and "director" means a member of such board of directors. See Iowa Code 357A.1
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Department: means the department of natural resources. See Iowa Code 357A.1
- District: means a rural water district incorporated and organized pursuant to the provisions of this chapter. See Iowa Code 357A.1
- Member: means an owner of real property which is located within a district, the tenant of the real property, or another person acting for the owner with the owner's written consent. See Iowa Code 357A.1
- Person: means an individual, firm, partnership, domestic or foreign corporation, company, association or joint stock association, trust, or other legal entity, and includes a trustee, receiver, assignee, or similar representative thereof, but does not include a governmental body. See Iowa Code 362.2
- property: includes personal and real property. See Iowa Code 4.1
- Supervisors: means the board of supervisors of a county, or the board of supervisors of an adjacent county, in which a district has been incorporated and organized or is proposed to be incorporated and organized. See Iowa Code 357A.1
2. “Board” means the board of directors of a district, and “director” means a member of such board of directors.
3. “Department” means the department of natural resources.
4. “District” means a rural water district incorporated and organized pursuant to the provisions of this chapter.
5. “Member” means an owner of real property which is located within a district, the tenant of the real property, or another person acting for the owner with the owner’s written consent.
6. “Participating member” means a member who has subscribed to and paid the established fee for at least one benefit unit in a district, in the manner provided by this chapter.
7. “Rural water association” or “association” means a rural water association organized and incorporated as a cooperative association under chapter 499 or as a nonprofit corporation under chapter 504.
8. “Supervisors” means the board of supervisors of a county, or the board of supervisors of an adjacent county, in which a district has been incorporated and organized or is proposed to be incorporated and organized.
