Terms Used In Iowa Code 411.12
- cities: means any city or cities participating in the statewide fire and police retirement system as required by this chapter. See Iowa Code 411.1
- fund: means the fire and police retirement fund. See Iowa Code 411.8
- Pensions: means annual payments for life derived from appropriations provided by the participating cities and the state and from contributions of the members which are deposited in the fire and police retirement fund. See Iowa Code 411.1
- system: means the statewide fire and police retirement system established by this chapter for the fire fighters and police officers of the cities described in section 411. See Iowa Code 411.1
The creation and maintenance of moneys in the fire and police retirement fund as provided for the payment of all pensions and other benefits granted under the provisions of this chapter and all expenses in connection with the administration and operation of the retirement system are hereby made direct liability obligations of the cities participating in the retirement system.
