Terms Used In Iowa Code 479.43
- Board: means the utilities board within the utilities division of the department of commerce. See Iowa Code 479.2
- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- Pipeline: means a pipe, pipes, or pipelines used for the transportation or transmission of a solid, liquid, or gaseous substance, except water, within or through this state. See Iowa Code 479.2
A pipeline company shall not install a pipeline until there is a written statement on file with the board as to how damages resulting from the construction of the pipeline shall be determined and paid, except in cases of eminent domain. The company shall provide a copy of the statement to the landowner.
